As part of its ongoing commitment to developing youth soccer in Northern Nevada, Nevada Elite FC will hold its annual Summer Goalkeeping Academy from June 21 through July 29, 2010.  The Summer Football Academy is open to boys and girls who will be U11 and above in the Fall 2010, regardless of club affiliation.  The Summer Goalkeeping Academy will be held at Terrace Sports Complex, 2525 Robb Drive, Reno.  The Summer Goalkeeping Academy will be led by Nevada Elite Goalkeeper Coach Jen Mavis, a former Division I goalkeeper for the Nevada Wolfpack, together with other licensed Nevada Elite FC coaches and guests.

The Summer Goalkeeping Academy will focus on the development of technical and tactical skills needed for top-level goalkeeping, including ball handling, footwork, collapse dives, extension dives (as indicated by age), dealing with crosses and high balls, and 1v1 technique. Each session will provide practical sessions that allow each goalkeeper to use the skills they have learned.  Above all, the Summer Goalkeeping Academy will be fun!

The Summer Goalkeeping Academy is reasonably priced at $100 for Nevada Elite players and their siblings and $150 for non-Nevada Elite players.  Players attending both the Summer Football Academy and the Goalkeeping Academy will receive a $25 discount.  The Summer Goalkeeper’s Academy will provide useful instruction in a fun and supportive environment.  It is a great course for high school goalkeepers getting ready for Fall 2008 high school tryouts as well.
