Nevada Elite Coaching Staff
All Nevada Elite FC coaches are professional, licensed individuals dedicated to improving the skills of the Clubs’ players. All coaches are licensed by the United States Soccer Federation and/or NSCAA, and have significant playing and/or coaching experience. Furthermore, all coaches participate collaboratively to maintain and perpetuate Nevada Elite FC’s philosophy and developmental curriculum for players to ensure consistency within the Club. Nevada Elite FC assists its coaches in obtaining ongoing, additional coaching education to ensure that its players receive appropriate and quality training.
Nevada Elite FC Coaches for 2009-10 include the following:
Director of Coaching: Rich Reid
Coach Rich is one of the original coaches who established Nevada Elite FC in 2007. Rich has an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma (the equivalent of a USSF "B" Coaching License) in addition to an NSCAA Regional Goalkeeper Diploma. He has coached a mixture of youth, high school, and adult soccer for 15 years. Rich is the head coach of Nevada Elite ‘95 Blue, and has been a coach for the Northern Nevada District Olympic Development and Signature Programs.
Rich earned a B.S. in Athletic Training from UNLV in 1996 and a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Chapman University in 1998. He now manages a local P.T. clinic focusing on orthopedics and sports medicine. Melding his professional career and his knowledge of soccer, Rich incorporates concepts of motor learning, injury prevention, and performance enhancement into his team’s year-round training schedule.

Goalkeeper Coach: Jen Mavis
Jen is one of the original Nevada Elite FC coaches who helped to establish the Club. She has considerable coaching experience over many years in the Reno-Sparks area, and has her US Soccer "C" coaching license. Her coaching experience includes two years as the assistant girls’ varsity coach at Manogue High School and assisting Graeme Abel with the Reno/Sparks United ’91 Girls’ team that finished in 2nd Place in the 2007 Nevada State Cup.
As a player, Jen was a member of the Nevada Wolf Pack soccer team for three years. In her freshman year, she played in nine games as a field player. After having knee surgery in her sophomore year, she redshirted her junior year for another knee surgery. She played in goal for 10 games in the following season. Jen was named one of the top returning goalkeepers in the Western Athletic Conference for the 2007 season. Jen’s club experience includes playing on two State Cup championship teams, playing in two Regional Tournaments, and playing in a number of tournaments including Nomads (runners-up), Surf Cup, Tacoma College Showcase, Presidents Cup Arizona (champions), and the Rogue Valley Cup (Medford, OR)(champions). Jen attended Reed High School, playing varsity for all four years, and received numerous honors including team MVP (twice), Most Inspirational, and League Defensive player of the Year. She also was named Team Captain.
Jen graduated in December 2008 with a degree in Health Ecology from the University of Nevada, and plans to be a physical therapist.

Tom Vallas, Head Coach
Tom is a Nevada Elite FC founder who, with Rich Reid, formed the Club. Tom is a longtime youth soccer coach, player and referee. He holds a USSF "D" coaching license and an NSCAA Regional Goalkeeping Diploma. Tom began playing competitive soccer at the age of 9 in Marin County, California. He has played ever since, and continues to play in the local adult men’s league and a variety of indoor leagues. As a referee, Tom has officiated matches at the club, high school, collegiate and semi-professional levels. He currently is the Club President. He also has served as the Executive Vice President of the Nevada State Soccer Association for over seven years, and has run the local men’s league since 1994. Tom graduated from the University of California, Davis. He has practiced law in Nevada and California since 1990.

Graeme Abel, Coaching Consultant
Graeme Abel, the Club’s original Director of Coaching, currently is an assistant/goalkeeper coach at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Graeme also has coached with the U-20 Women’s U.S. National Team. Even though he is over one thousand miles away, Graeme continues to provide guidance to the coaching staff. Graeme, a native of Liverpool, England, has played professionally in England and collegiately in the U.S. He formerly was the assistant/goalkeeper coach at the University of Nevada.
